Angel Unaware

He was the new kid,
and he needed a friend.

I write a column in the middle reader section at Christian Fiction Online Magazine. Last year, I told Koji’s story in Angel on High. For 2015, I’m spinning a new Threshold story centered around a cherub with an unusual calling. Angel Unaware is a tale in twelve parts that gives an angelic twist to a coming-of-age story about friendship, family, and the faithfulness of Marcus Truman.

Story Summary: Marcus had never been a typical cherub. Raised on earth instead of in enclaves, he blended right in with humanity. The perfect Graft. But what Marcus wanted more than anything else was to become a warrior. So he asked God for a mentor. Marcus gets his armor fittings and swordsmanship lessons. But he also ends up with a couple of well-meaning foster parents, three nosy siblings, a lonesome landlord, and a new best friend.

Many thanks to Bonnie Calhoun and Christian Fiction Online Magazine. If it weren’t for my monthly column at CFOM, neither Angel on High nor Angel Unaware would have been written. With the magazine’s closure, future installments of this story will post here at ChristaKinde.com.

The link to read “Wannabe” doesn’t let me click on it. Do you have the link to the actual website? I can’t wait to start reading!

To be honest this is the story I am most looking forward to. Marcus is my favorite not only because he’s *cough cough* amazing but also because out of all the grafts he’s really the one who represents a “perfect teenage boy” (though he isn’t human at all). It’s fun to see things from his perspective. I love his mannerisms and the way he speaks.:) I can’t wait to delve into the backstory of how he and Randsom became friends.

I just read Wannabe, and I basically squealed the whole time! Tiny Marcus is adorable!

And a real quick question for Marcus:

Hey Marcus, are you aware that you have fangirls?

    • Oh, wow. I missed your comment. My latest is out. Pursuing Prissie. And you can also add Tried and True to your virtual library. My NEXT book is an angel-themed devotional, which will be out from Zondervan in October 2015.

    • Yes, I plan to add to the Pomeroy Family Legacy collection. But no, it’s not really a series (in the sense that they’re not in chronological order). Next up is a novella about how Jayce and Naomi met … and I’m planning a novel to tell Tad’s story after that.

Your books got me thinking, then my thinking turned to prayers, about angels as guardians and stuff, so I was wondering do humans really have guardians and protectors and stuff? Reply if u have an answer, cause I could really use one. :)

    • If you don’t mind a small plug, my new devotional answers lots of questions about angels. It’s called Angels: A 90-Day Devotional About God’s Messengers.

As far as whether or not guardian angels are real, there are a couple of verses that seem to indicate that God does use His angels to look out for us. One verse in Matthew talks about children and “their angels.” That’s pretty much where the whole guardian angel concept comes from.

As far as “guardians and protectors and stuff,” we know there are at least two different “orders” of angels, because the Bible talks about cherubim and seraphim. Just keep in mind that while my stories are based on Scripture, they’re fiction. I made lotsa stuff up! ; )
