THRESHOLD: Koji

Koji Portrait by Serena Verde

Koji by Serena Verde

Koji is a member of the adahim, an angelic Observer who serves as the eyes and ears of heaven. These archivists are usually cloistered in white towers, but Koji doesn’t remain on high for long. He’s the angelic boy Prissie meets in the first chapter of Threshold Series, Book One: The Blue Door [Zonderkidz].

OUTTAKE: Skimming the Surface

Omri and Lavi

“No one can comprehend what goes on under
the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out,
man cannot discover its meaning.”
ECCLESIASTES 8:17

Skimming the Surface

With Koji added to the Pomeroy household, winter weekends usually included a trek to the pond with shovels and skates. The young angel was determined to improve his skills. Not that Prissie minded. “Day and night they never stop saying:
‘HOLY, HOLY, HOLY IS THE Lord GOD ALMIGHTY,

HEBREWS 1:10

In the Beginning

Prissie grabbed her Bible and climbed into her bedroom’s windowseat. There were things she wanted to know. About her new friend in particular. About angels in general. But she wasn’t sure where to start. Continue reading

OUTTAKE: Her Prince

Angels All Around

“And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call,
and they will gather His elect from the four winds,
from one end of the heavens to the other.”
MATTHEW 24:31

Her Prince

Prissie found Koji sitting in her windowseat, paging through one of her old picture books. This particular one had been her favorite. Mostly because it was about a princess, and the story’s prince looked a lot like Milo. Continue reading

OUTTAKE: Careful Attention

Apple Tree

“May the word of my lord the king bring me
rest, for the lord the king is like an
angel of God in discerning good and evil.”
2 SAMUEL 14:17 NIV

Careful Attention

“You know, we cleaned this thing inside and out before the trip,” Prissie grumbled. “Look at this mess!”

“Indeed.” Koji joined her in peering under the seats in the Pomeroy family’s fifteen-passenger van. Continue reading
