Chapter 280: Pull

“Your wings,” Tamaes whispered. “Show me your wings.”

“Why?” Adin drew even further back and rubbed distractedly at one shoulder. “You’ve seen them often enough.”

“But you said they ache.” Tamaes used his own wings to gently corral his brother. “Unfurl.”

Annoyance flickered across Adin’s features. “Don’t tell me what to do.”

“But you could be injured.”

“Like Valerian?” Adin continued to pull away. “Did you find him? Did he send you?”

“Taweel is with Valerian.” Tamaes caught his brother’s elbow. “You hurt him. Why?”

Adin’s answer came soft as silk, heavy with warning. “He tried to stop me, too.”

I’m not sure he’s ignoring them so much as… trying not to believe what they’re telling him as long as he can come up with any other interpretation.

What doesn’t he know? That Adin has already Fallen? If he has, why hasn’t the same thing happened to him as happened to {spoiler}? Or has that in fact happened, and that’s the thing Tamaes doesn’t know?
