Chapter 278: Best and Brightest
Tamaes drew his wings more closely around Adin. “Brother?”
“Am I not skilled?”
“You are. No one in our encampment can disarm you. Even the enclave’s cherubim call you formidable.”
“I am!” Adin exclaimed, eyes flashing. “I became everything she could possibly need!”
She! There was such fierceness behind that single syllable. So Adin had been given a girl-child to love. Tamaes wryly pointed out, “We have both had ample time to prepare. Even still, I await my Sending.”
“Waiting did not suit me, but it was preferable to this.” Adin let his forehead rest against Tamaes’s. “I was deceived.”
