Chapter 181: Scars
“Without a Caretaker’s intervention, this will scar.”
“I do not mind,” said Tamaes. “You have scars.”
“Do you remember how you received each one?”
Taweel brought up his wings, tucking them around his apprentice. “Vividly.”
Safely swathed in their shelter, Tamaes asked, “Were they mistakes?”
Touching a patch of puckered skin on his mentor’s forearm, he murmured, “Valerian calls scars lessons.”
“If so, they are learned too late.”
Tamaes tilted his head back and searched Taweel’s face. “Maybe the lessons are for me.”
Taweel grunted. “Choose one, and we will see if you can learn from my mistake.”
