Chapter 7: Gap in the Hedge
Taweel followed Dorum into a tent with loose sides billowing in soft breezes. Unbuckling the sword that hung between his shoulder blades, he sat on one of two low cots. Dorum tossed his own weapon onto the other cot. “I need to speak to the overseer. Coming?”
Once his mentor stepped out, Taweel inched his sword from it sheath, stopping partway. As he feared, his charge’s name was gone. Wiped from the gleaming blade as if it had never been there. With quiet deliberation, he removed his breastplate and unwound crisscrossing bootstraps. Abandoning all his gear, Taweel walked out.
