Rough and Tumble, Chapter 131: Lines on the Wall

Chapter 131: Lines on the Wall

Before bedtime, Jayce recorded Zeke’s height with an orange marker on the laundry room wall. Later, Ethan knelt in the narrow space to study the inscriptions. Conrad asked, “Well?”

“Tad will always be taller than Neil.”

“Where does Zeke fall?”

Ethan replied, “He nearly makes Tad’s mark, but I think he was up on his toes.”

“And you?”

Standing, he touched the highest line on the wall. Although small by Guardian standards, Ethan was still taller than Jayce.

“Thought so,” Conrad pointedly looked up into his apprentice’s widening eyes. “You’re so often with Alpheus, it’s no wonder we didn’t notice.”
