Chapter 113: Broken Record
Christmas was in the air—snow and spice, cedar and pine. Alpheus faced his first holiday with a steady sort of joy, but Ethan’s days held no such peace.
“Momma! Have you seen Zeke?”
Naomi pulled gingerbread men out of the oven. “I thought you and Neil were playing with him.”
Tad’s shoulders hunched. “He got away from us.”
“Zeke!” she called. “Where are you, little man?”
Ethan wished he could have warned her, but it was far too late. Whoosh! Whump! Smash! Tinkle!
At the tender age of eighteen months, Zeke toppled the Christmas tree… and his father’s record.
