Authorial Endeavor #016. I’ve often picked up a book because it had a quirky title or amazing artwork on the cover. I’ve often passed by a book without a second look because I judged it by its cover. It’s just plain fascinating how much thought goes into cover design. A book has to scream, “PICK ME UP!” and its back cover has to convince a prospective buyer that the pages within are worth their time and money.
After feedback at ALA2013, my publisher up and decided to change the cover to The Hidden Deep. Prissie wasn’t standing out enough in her setting, so they changed the color of her dress.
What do you think? Better?
