Chapter 108: Wake Up Call
The day Zeke staged an escape from his crib during naptime, Conrad and Ethan abandoned their training to rush to his side. As he drew breath to wail, four Guardians crammed into the bedroom and hovered around the frightened, fallen boy. “I should have been here,” Ethan mourned.
Alpheus guiltily murmured, “I was here.”
“Don’t fret. Zeke’s fine,” Conrad soothed as Naomi rushed in.
Lucan remarked, “She was sound asleep. Her strength has flagged.”
“Heaven help me,” the woman sighed. “How am I going to keep up with you and this one?”
“Ah,” Lucan said with satisfaction. “She has realized.”
