Chapter 107: Quirky
Ethan grunted with the effort of keeping Alpheus’s ungainly weapon from dropping. The big warrior’s laugh was a low-rolling, friendly sound that lifted Ethan’s heart. Brightening, he glanced up and caught Kin’s eye.
Alpheus’s slim mentor didn’t say anything, but his eyebrows waggled before settling in a lopsided quirk under black bangs.
Thinking back, Ethan realized that in all the days since this pair had joined the Hedge, he’d never heard Kin speak. “You are not very … talkative.”
“No?” Kin asked, his tone light and playful. Then he inclined his head, chin-length hair sweeping forward as he conceded, “No.”
