Chapter 106: Keen Edge
Ethan nibbled slowly at his manna, extending his break for as long as possible. He and Raz had joined the long row of Messengers watching Alpheus’s mentor train. Liquid gold wings swirled around Kin’s angular frame as he circled and spun, slinging knives with deadly accuracy. Swoop. Cling. Leap. Clang. Alpheus fended the barrage off with the flat of a broadsword that was taller than Ethan.
When they took a break for Kin to collect his weaponry, Ethan sidled up to Alpheus. “May I try your sword?”
He offered the hilt with a small smile. “Try.”
Ethan couldn’t budge it.
