Chapter 101: Strangers in the Kitchen
Ethan slipped into the kitchen earlier than usual, eager for a quiet chat with Lucan, but he drew up short just inside the door. Two strangers stood beside the table. They glanced up, and Ethan shuffled his feet, unsure how to proceed.
Bronze stitching marked them as Guardians. The one with black curls was impressively tall, even bigger than Othniel. With a series of shy glances, Ethan gained his first impressions—strong chin, crooked nose, heavy brows, and fine scars showing pale against olive skin.
Just then, Lucan entered the room, and a slow smile spread across his face. “Ah.”
